Because these bars were individually poured and stamped by hand, each one possesses its own subtle variations, ripples, and cooling lines. This artisanal manufacturing process makes every piece a unique physical record of its creation, contrasting sharply with the uniform, machine-struck bullion of today. The front of the bar displays the image of a rising phoenix, the mythical bird that serves as the emblem for the refiner. Alongside this central creature, the stamps indicate the bar's substantial weight of five troy ounces and its high purity level of 0.9999 fine gold. The back of the bar is left entirely blank, showcasing the raw, natural texture of the cooled metal. Since Phoenix Precious Metals no longer manufactures these items, they remain a fascinating window into late twentieth-century private refining history.
