The town of Bisbee, Arizona, which inspired this piece, was established in 1880 as a mining settlement. Named after Judge DeWitt Bisbee, the town grew with the financial backing of the Copper Queen Mine. It earned the nickname 'the Queen of Copper Camps' and became a highly successful mining hub in the early 20th century. The local mines yielded a rich variety of metals, including copper, gold, silver, lead, and zinc. By the year 1910, the thriving community had grown to a population of more than 9,000 people.
