Arabia Felix. Himyarites AR Fraction (c. 1st Century AD) VG NGC
In the ancient southern region of the Arabian Peninsula known as Arabia Felix, a fascinating silver fraction was minted around the first century AD. This diminutive silver coin offers a tangible connection to the Himyarite Kingdom, with some attributions suggesting a Sabaean origin. The obverse features a right-facing portrait of Athena wearing a helmet, framed by a delicate border of small pellets. On the reverse, an owl stands prominently in the center, positioned atop an amphora. This entire central image is enclosed within a decorative wreath. This specific specimen has been examined and certified as Very Good (VG) by third-party grading specialists.
