Arabia Felix. Himyarites AR Fraction (c. 1st Century AD) XF NGC
Dating back to approximately the first century AD, this silver fraction originates from Arabia Felix, a region associated with the Himyarites and potentially of Sabaean origin. Despite its immense age, the coin survives in an exceptional state of preservation, graded as Extra Fine. The obverse of this ancient silver piece features the right-facing profile of Athena wearing a helmet, all enclosed within a delicate border of pellets. On the reverse, a central owl stands atop an amphora, framed beautifully by an encircling wreath. This design reflects the fascinating cultural and artistic exchanges occurring in the southern Arabian Peninsula during the ancient era.
