Struck between 302 and 280 BC, this silver didrachm showcases the vibrant maritime culture and military pride of its people through two remarkably detailed scenes. The obverse of the coin captures a moment of intense action. A warrior is depicted on horseback, holding a shield and two spears while preparing to cast a third. This dynamic representation highlights the equestrian skill and martial readiness of the ancient city. On the reverse, the design shifts to local mythology, showing the figure of Taras riding a dolphin across the waves to the left, holding a distaff in his hand. Crafted from silver with a weight of approximately 0.2000 troy ounces, this ancient piece survives in Very Fine condition. It has been certified with a strike grade of 3 out of 5 and a surface grade of 3 out of 5, with noting that the surfaces have been brushed.
