This ancient silver drachm originates from the historic region of Cappadocia, minted during the reign of King Ariarathes VII, who ruled from 116 to 101 BC. Weighing approximately 0.12 troy ounces, this silver piece offers a direct physical connection to the Hellenistic period of Asia Minor. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing portrait of King Ariarathes VII. On the reverse, the design depicts the goddess Athena standing and facing left, holding Nike, the personification of victory.
