During the third and second centuries BC, Celtic tribes along the Danube created their own distinctive currency by imitating the highly successful coinage of Alexander the Great. This silver tetradrachm stands as a captivating testament to that era of cultural contact and artistic adaptation, showcasing how regional artisans reinterpreted classical Greek imagery. The obverse of this silver piece features the right-facing profile of Heracles, the legendary hero draped in his signature lion skin. On the reverse, the design depicts Zeus seated on his throne facing left, holding his traditional scepter alongside an eagle. This particular ancient specimen has survived the centuries in remarkable condition, earning a grading of Extra Fine.
