China Qing Dynasty AE Cash Jiaqing Emperor 1796-1820 AD Avg Circ
Struck during the Qing Dynasty, this bronze cash coin represents the era of the Jiaqing Emperor, who ruled China from 1796 to 1820. These pieces served as the everyday currency of the empire, carrying a distinctive design characterized by a square center hole. This functional feature allowed citizens to string multiple coins together for easy transport and transactions. Weighing approximately 3.80 grams with a diameter of 24 millimeters, the coin was produced by the Manchurian Mint. The obverse side bears characters denoting its origin from the Board of Revenue Mint and its denomination as one cash. On the reverse, the Manchu script reads Boo Ciowan, a phrase translating to the source of all currency, which identifies the official treasury minting authority.
