This medieval silver denier originates from the historic Principality of Antioch, minted during the turbulent era of the Crusades. Produced between the years 1202 and 1232 under the authority of Ruler Bohemond IV, this coin survives in Very Fine condition, offering a tangible connection to the Crusader States. The obverse of the coin features a striking depiction of a Frankish knight facing left, wearing a protective mail coif. This military imagery captures the defensive nature of the crusading knights who occupied the region during the thirteenth century. On the reverse, the coin displays a short Maltese cross, a symbol deeply associated with the crusading orders of the time.
