France Gold 20 Francs French Rooster Coin (1899-1914) AU

0.1867 troy oz .900 Almost Unc

Struck at the historic Paris Mint between 1899 and 1914, this French gold coin is a beautiful representation of late nineteenth and early twentieth century European coinage. It is composed of 0.900 fine gold, containing 0.1867 troy ounces of precious metal. Cataloged as KM #847, this particular issue is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, showing very little wear from its time in circulation. The obverse of the coin features a classic profile bust of Marianne, the personification of the French Republic. This elegant portrait was created by the designer J.C. Chaplain, whose name appears on the coin. The reverse showcases a proud Gallic rooster, a traditional symbol of France, alongside the denomination of 20 Francs. Coins minted during the initial years of the series, specifically from 1899 to 1902, are noted for being scarcer than their later counterparts.
