Struck in the ancient Illyrian Greek city of Dyrrhachium, this silver drachm dates from the third to the first century BC. Measuring approximately 18 mm in diameter, the coin represents a fascinating era of Greek economic history, serving as a medium of trade and daily commerce in the Adriatic region. The obverse of the coin displays a tender scene of a cow standing and looking backward at her nursing calf, accompanied by an eagle with its wings spread wide. On the reverse, a double stellate pattern is enclosed within a square, framed by the name of a local magistrate. This ancient silver piece has survived over two millennia, earning a Fine grade classification.
