Dating from the third to the first century BC, this silver drachm originates from the ancient Illyrian Greek city of Dyrrhachium, a key hub in Greek economic history. Measuring approximately 18 mm in diameter, the coin offers a fascinating glimpse into the artistic and civic identity of the region during the Hellenistic era. The obverse of the coin displays a striking scene of a cow standing and looking backward at her nursing calf, accompanied by an eagle with its wings spread wide. On the reverse, a double stellate pattern is enclosed within a square, surrounded by the name of a local magistrate.
