Dating back to approximately 58 BC, this silver drachm belongs to the reign of the Indo Scythian ruler Azes I or II. The legends on these pieces bridge two distinct worlds, utilizing Greek lettering alongside Kharosthi script, an ancient writing system from the Gandhara region that was traditionally used for Sanskrit and Gandhari Prakrit.
