This ancient bronze AE Prutah, minted in Judaea between 29 and 30 AD, offers a direct physical connection to the early first century. Issued under the authority of the Roman procurator Pontius Pilate, this small copper-alloy coin circulated in the region during the lifetime of Jesus Christ, making it an object of immense historical curiosity. The obverse of the coin features a simple depiction of ears of grain, a common agricultural motif of the era.
