Kingdom of Macedon AR Drachm Alexander III (336-323 BC) AU NGC
This ancient silver drachm originates from the Kingdom of Macedon, minted during or shortly after the legendary reign of Alexander III, famously known as Alexander the Great, between 336 and 323 BC. Weighing 4.29 grams with a metal content of 0.1400 troy ounces of silver, this coin survives in an exceptional state of preservation, graded as About Uncirculated. The obverse features a detailed profile of the mythical hero Heracles facing right, draped in his signature Nemean lion skin. On the reverse, the supreme deity Zeus is depicted seated on a throne facing left, holding a scepter in one hand and a perched eagle in the other. This side also displays a filleted palm frond as a control mark in the left field, alongside the Greek inscription ALEXANDROY, which names the famous Macedonian ruler.
