Kingdom of Macedon AR Drachm Alexander III (336-323 BC) Ch AU
Struck during the legendary reign of Alexander III, also known as Alexander the Great, this silver drachm represents a classic era of ancient Greek coinage. Minted between 336 and 323 BC, the coin weighs approximately 4.25 grams and is crafted from silver. This particular specimen has survived the centuries in remarkable condition, earning a Choice Almost Uncirculated grading tier. The obverse of the coin features a detailed, right-facing bust of the mythical hero Heracles, draped in his signature lion skin. On the reverse, the god Zeus is depicted seated on a throne, facing to the left. In his hands, he holds both an eagle and a scepter, symbols of his supreme authority. To the right of the seated deity, the Greek inscription "ALEXANDROY" is clearly visible, marking the authority of the Macedonian king.
