Struck during the monumental era of 336 to 323 BC, this silver drachm from the Kingdom of Macedon represents a classic piece of ancient artistry. Weighing 4.25 grams and containing approximately 0.1300 troy ounces of silver, the coin is an early posthumous issue that captures the powerful imagery of Macedonian authority. On the obverse, the profile of Heracles faces right, draped in the skin of the Nemean lion. The reverse features the supreme deity Zeus seated on his throne, facing left while holding an eagle and a scepter. Beside the image of Zeus, the Greek inscription ALEXANDROY is clearly visible, marking the legacy of Alexander the Great.
