This ancient silver drachm, struck during the early posthumous period following the reign of Alexander III of Macedon, offers a window into the classical world. Weighing approximately 0.1370 troy ounces, the coin represents the enduring legacy of one of history's most famous rulers, carrying designs that circulated widely across the ancient Mediterranean. The obverse displays the profile of Heracles facing right, draped in his signature lion skin headdress. On the reverse, the supreme deity Zeus is depicted seated on a throne facing left, holding his traditional scepter in one hand and an eagle in the other. To the right of the seated deity, the Greek inscription ALEXANDROY is visible, associating the coinage with the legendary Macedonian king. This particular specimen has been certified in Choice Extra Fine condition. It exhibits unique physical characteristics from its ancient manufacture, including a die shift during the striking process and evidence of being brushed.
