Struck during the early posthumous period following the reign of Alexander the Great, this silver drachm from Macedon offers a tangible connection to the ancient Greek world. The coin has been certified by independent authenticators as Choice Extra Fine, though it displays evidence of being brushed. Containing 0.1370 troy ounces of silver, it represents a classic denomination of ancient Mediterranean commerce. The obverse of the coin features a detailed right-facing bust of the legendary hero Heracles, draped in his signature lion skin. On the reverse, the supreme deity Zeus is depicted seated on a throne facing left, holding his scepter and an eagle.
