This ancient silver drachm originates from the kingdom of Macedon, minted during the era of 336 to 323 BC. Although categorized under the date range of his influential reign, this particular piece represents a posthumous issue, struck in the name of the legendary ruler Alexander III, commonly known as Alexander the Great. On the obverse side, the coin displays a detailed right-facing bust of Heracles, the celebrated hero of classical mythology, draped in his signature lion skin. This powerful imagery is paired on the reverse with a depiction of Zeus, the king of the gods, seated on a throne facing left. In his hands, Zeus holds a scepter and an eagle, symbols of his supreme authority. The reverse also features the Greek inscription ALEXANDROY, identifying the ruler whose legacy the coin honors. Struck in silver with a metal weight of approximately 0.1369 troy ounces, this ancient artifact has survived the centuries in Very Fine condition, certified to verify its state of preservation.
