0.1350 troy oz N/A 323-317 AD NGC

This ancient silver drachm originates from the short reign of Philip III, minted between 323 and 317 BC. Measuring approximately 17 mm in diameter, the coin contains about 0.1350 troy ounces of silver, serving as a tangible artifact from a turbulent and fascinating era of Macedonian history. The obverse of the coin showcases a striking right-facing bust of the mythological hero Heracles, draped in his iconic lion skin. This powerful imagery is complemented on the reverse by a depiction of Zeus seated on his throne, facing left. The king of the gods is shown holding a scepter in one hand and a perched eagle in the other, symbolizing supreme authority. This particular specimen has survived over two millennia, retaining enough of its original artistry to be certified in Fine condition by ancient coin grading experts.
