This ancient silver drachm transports us back to the Macedonian Empire during the brief reign of Philip III, between 323 and 317 BC. Despite its age, this piece of ancient currency still clearly displays the powerful imagery chosen by the rulers of the era. Measuring approximately 17 millimeters in diameter, the coin contains about 0.1200 troy ounces of silver. The obverse side of the coin features a right-facing bust of Heracles, the legendary hero of Greek myth, draped in his characteristic lion skin. On the reverse, the supreme deity Zeus is depicted seated and facing left, holding a scepter in one hand and an eagle in the other. This particular specimen has survived over two millennia and is certified in Very Good condition.
