This monumental silver piece, weighing a full kilogram of 0.999 fine silver, offers an extraordinary canvas for one of the most detailed designs in numismatic history. Issued by the Banco de México starting in 2007, the coin carries a face value of 100 Pesos and represents a magnificent fusion of ancient indigenous culture and modern minting excellence. The reverse side displays a highly detailed rendering of the Aztec calendar stone. This complex system tracked time through two overlapping wheels: a solar cycle of 365 days called the xiuhpohualli, and a ceremonial cycle of 260 days known as the tonalpohualli. At the very heart of the design is the sun deity, Tonatiuh, who is encircled by four distinct quadrants that represent the previous epochs of the Aztec world.
