During the middle of the twentieth century, the Royal Dutch Mint produced a striking silver coin for the Netherlands with a face value of 2 1/2 Gulden. Struck between the years 1959 and 1966, these pieces represent a classic era of Dutch currency, containing 0.3472 troy ounces of pure silver within a 0.720 fine silver alloy. One side of the coin features the profile of Queen Juliana, facing right, surrounded by her royal title. The opposite side displays the crowned coat of arms of the Netherlands, flanked by the denomination and the year of manufacture. These circulating coins offer a tangible connection to the post-war monetary history of the Netherlands, showcasing traditional heraldic imagery alongside modern royal portraiture.
