Dating from the years 121 to 91 BC, this ancient silver drachm originates from the height of the Parthian Empire. It represents a fascinating era of classical artistry and regional dominance, surviving today in an exceptional Almost Uncirculated state of preservation. The obverse of this silver coin features a detailed left-facing bust of the ruler, Mithradates II. He is depicted wearing a royal diadem and crown, with his draped attire rendered in fine detail. This portrait offers a direct visual connection to the leadership of the ancient Near East, captured in a small piece of precious metal weighing approximately 0.12 troy ounces. On the reverse, the design depicts an archer, identified as Arsakes I, seated upon a throne and facing to the right while holding a bow.
