Struck during the years 138 to 141 AD, this ancient Roman silver denarius offers a direct connection to the imperial past. The coin features the portrait of Empress Faustina Senior, depicted on the obverse as a right-facing bust. Surrounding her image is the clear inscription DIVA FAVSTINA, signifying her deified status after her passing. The reverse side of this silver piece displays the goddess Juno. She is depicted veiled and standing toward the left, grasping a patera, a shallow ritual offering bowl, in her right hand while holding a long scepter in her left hand. This particular specimen has been certified as Choice Fine. Interestingly, professional assessors noted that the coin might be plated, though it displays no visible breaks or exposed base metal underneath its silver surface, leaving its internal composition a fascinating subject for study.
