Struck during the early years of the Flavian dynasty, between 72 and 73 AD, this silver denarius offers a direct connection to the reign of Emperor Vespasian. Weighing approximately 3 grams and measuring 18 millimeters in diameter, the ancient coin served as a standard unit of currency in the daily commerce of the Roman Empire. The obverse features a detailed portrait of Vespasian facing right, adorned with a laureate crown. Surrounding his likeness is the Latin inscription IMP CAESAR VESP AVG P, identifying his imperial status.
