Struck during the turbulent era of Julius Caesar's civil war, this silver denarius from 46 BC offers a tangible connection to ancient Rome. Minted in the heart of the Roman Republic, the coin weighs approximately 3.5 grams and contains 0.12 troy ounces of silver, serving as a testament to the monetary systems of antiquity. The obverse side displays the profile of Apollo, the classical deity of light and music, facing to the right. Just behind his head, a single letter 'A' is inscribed. On the reverse, the design features a traditional curule chair, an ancient symbol of political and magisterial authority, adorned with a wreath. This specimen has survived over two millennia, preserved in a state of wear described as Very Good to Fine.
