This silver denarius, minted in 137 BC during the Roman Republic, offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient artistry and classical mythology. Weighing 3.94 grams, the coin features a detailed depiction of the helmeted head of Rome on its obverse. Facing to the left, the personification of the city wears a delicate necklace of beads. An 'X' is visible beneath her chin, while the inscription 'TAMPIL' is positioned behind her head. On the reverse, the design transitions to a dynamic scene of Apollo driving a quadriga, a traditional four-horse chariot. The deity is shown holding a bow, arrow, reins, and a branch as the horses charge forward. Below the galloping horses, the word 'ROMA' is clearly inscribed, anchoring the piece to the heart of the ancient republic. This specimen, associated with the moneyer MBAEBIQF, has survived over two millennia and is preserved in Very Fine condition.
