Struck in the monumental year of 30 BC, this silver denarius is a direct survivor from the tumultuous final era of the Roman Republic. Issued under the authority of Marc Antony, the coin served as vital military coinage, minted to pay the soldiers of his legions during a period of intense civil conflict. This particular issue is dedicated to the Twelfth Legion, a unit with a long and storied military record.
