Rome Dbl Denarius Gordian III (238-244 AD) XF NGC (Random Coin)
Struck during a tumultuous era of Roman history, this silver Double Denarius dates back to the reign of Emperor Gordian III, who ruled from 238 to 244 AD. Ascending to the imperial throne at the tender age of approximately 15 years, the young ruler held the title while actual administrative power resided with the Praetorian Prefects. His brief and unstable reign concluded with his death, which paved the way for Philip I to assume control of the empire. This ancient silver coin measures 18 millimeters in diameter and contains 0.1200 troy ounces of metal. Having survived centuries in remarkable condition, it is certified as Extra Fine. The obverse features a detailed bust of the young Emperor Gordian III, while the reverse displays traditional Roman imagery, often depicting various gods, goddesses, or personifications of classic Roman ideals.
