This ancient silver drachm, minted during the reign of King Peroz between 457 and 484 AD, offers a tangible connection to the Sasanian Empire. The coin measures approximately 32 mm in diameter and contains about 0.12 ounces of silver. It has survived the centuries in exceptional condition, graded as Almost Uncirculated. The obverse side displays a detailed right-facing profile of King Peroz (also known as Firuz). He wears an elaborate crown adorned with a crescent and a globe, while a ribbon drapes from his right shoulder. Fine details are visible upon close inspection, including a triple-beaded earring and a small crescent positioned just above his forehead, all enclosed within a single pointed border. On the reverse, the coin depicts a traditional Zoroastrian fire altar. Two attendants stand guard on either side of the sacred flame, which is itself flanked by a celestial star and crescent symbol.
