During the ancient era, specifically from 138 to 129 BC, the Seleucid Kingdom produced remarkable silver coinage that serves as a window into Hellenistic artistry. This silver drachm, weighing approximately 4.1 grams, represents the currency of an empire in transition under the rule of Antiochus VII. The obverse side of this coin features a detailed portrait of Antiochus VII. He is depicted facing right, wearing a diadem, which was a traditional symbol of royal authority. This portrait is neatly framed within a delicate fillet border, showcasing the classical style of the period's die-engravers. On the reverse, the winged goddess Nike is shown advancing toward the left. She holds a wreath, a classic symbol of victory and triumph.
