Why other sites show a different price

Spot vs futures. The price above is spot: the price for metal delivered now. Google Finance and many apps quote COMEX futures, a price agreed today for metal delivered on a later date. Futures usually trade a little above spot because they include the cost of holding the metal until delivery.

Bid and ask. The market always quotes two prices: the bid (what buyers are paying) and the ask (what sellers want). The spot price shown here is the midpoint between the two. On the 1D and 7D charts, the dotted line marks the current market bid. A dealer's buy price for a coin is a separate number: it depends on the coin, its condition and the dealer, and can sit above or below spot.

Timing and source. Prices change every few seconds, and each data provider samples the market at slightly different moments. Our prices come from a professional market data feed and refresh about once a minute.

Coins and bars cost more than spot. A coin or bar sells for the spot value of its metal plus a premium that covers minting, distribution and the dealer's margin, so a dealer's price for a coin is usually higher than spot.
