$10 Liberty Gold Eagle AU (Random Year)

0.4838 troy oz .900 Almost Unc

Introduced in 1838 and struck until 1907, this ten dollar gold piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. Each coin contains 0.4838 troy ounces of gold, minted in a 0.900 fine gold alloy. Produced by the United States Mint, these pieces emerged from various historic minting facilities, including Philadelphia, Carson City, Denver, New Orleans, and San Francisco. Over the decades, vast numbers of these gold coins were melted down, making the surviving specimens compelling objects of study for historians and enthusiasts alike. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty, created by Christian Gobrecht. Her hair is bound with a band displaying the inscription LIBERTY, and she is encircled by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. On the reverse, Gobrecht's design displays a powerful heraldic eagle bearing a shield upon its chest. The eagle is surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination TEN D.
