In the final years of the eighteenth century, the young United States Mint in Philadelphia produced this silver dollar. Dated 1798, the coin represents a foundational era in American coinage, struck at a time when the nation was first establishing its monetary identity. This particular specimen is certified in Extremely Fine 45 (XF-45) condition, preserving the details of its historic engraving through more than two centuries. The obverse displays the elegant Draped Bust motif, a classic representation of liberty, with the year 1798 clearly visible at the base. On the reverse, the design features the powerful heraldic eagle, a symbol of national reach and authority.
