1800 Draped Bust Dollar VF-30 NGC

0.7738 troy oz .900 1800 NGC

In the earliest years of the United States Mint, silver dollars were substantial pieces of precious metal that carried the young nation's identity. This 1800 silver dollar represents the Draped Bust era, a historic period of American coinage before the introduction of mint marks on these large silver pieces. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin contains 0.7738 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 90 percent. Only 220,920 of these silver dollars were minted in 1800, making each surviving specimen a rare window into the turn of the nineteenth century. The obverse displays the classic draped portrait of Liberty, with the year 1800 clearly visible at the bottom. This particular coin has been certified and graded as Very Fine 30 (VF-30), preserving a remarkable level of detail from a time when the United States was still establishing its monetary system.
