In the early nineteenth century, the United States Mint produced the half cent, a tiny denomination that played a vital role in daily commerce. The 1807 issue represents a fascinating moment in early American copper coinage, struck at the Philadelphia Mint during an era when every coin was individually crafted from hand-engraved dies.
