During the early decades of the United States, the half dime served as a vital piece of silver currency. Minted between the years 1829 and 1837, these small silver coins carry a composition of 89.24 percent silver, containing 0.0387 troy ounces of the precious metal. Even in heavily worn or cull condition, these pieces offer a tangible connection to the early monetary system of the nation. The obverse of the coin displays a classic representation of Liberty, recognizable by the Phrygian cap resting on her head, a traditional symbol of freedom. On the reverse, the design features an eagle clutching a symbolic bundle of arrows and an olive branch, with a shield placed across its chest.
