In 1833, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of copper half cents, totaling just 103,000 pieces. This particular issue showcases the Liberty Head design, a classic motif from early United States coinage. Despite its age and the passage of time, the coin's design elements remain identifiable, representing a bygone era of American commerce when even a fraction of a cent held significant purchasing power. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty, her hair bound by a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY, positioned above the year 1833. On the reverse, a delicate wreath encircles the denomination HALF CENT, which is surrounded by the bold inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Struck in pure copper, this coin survives today in Fine condition, offering a tangible look at the craftsmanship of early nineteenth-century American minting.
