0.0715 troy oz .900 1838 Very Good

Introduced in the late 1830s, the Liberty Seated Dime represents a major era in United States coinage. This particular silver coin, minted in 1838, showcases the artistry of Christian Gobrecht. It contains 0.0715 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver, serving as a tangible connection to the pre-1933 era of American currency. The obverse design features Lady Liberty seated upon a rock, holding a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand while supporting a shield with the other. The year 1838 is clearly inscribed beneath her. On the reverse, a delicate wreath wraps around the central denomination, which reads as ONE DIME, surrounded by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This sovereign ten-cent coin, backed by the United States government, survives today in Very Good circulated condition, preserving a fascinating design from the early nineteenth century.
