This classic coin, containing 0.2419 troy ounces of gold, showcases the artistry of Christian Gobrecht. His work on this series captures the evolving aesthetic of American coinage during the mid-nineteenth century. The front of the coin features a left-facing portrait of Liberty, her hair secured by a band bearing her name. Thirteen stars encircle this central image, representing the original colonies.
