1841 Large Cent XF

0.0000 troy oz 1841 Extra Fine

In 1841, the United States Mint in Philadelphia produced a copper one cent piece that showcases a refined era of American coin design. This large cent, struck in pure copper, represents a transition in aesthetic style, featuring a detailed portrait of Liberty on the obverse. Known as the Braided Hair design, Liberty faces left with her hair neatly bound, secured by a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY, while the year 1841 is positioned directly below the portrait. The reverse of this copper cent is framed by a delicate wreath that encircles the denomination, which is boldly stated as ONE CENT. Encircling this central wreath is the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, completing a classic design that circulated widely during the pre-1933 era. This particular specimen is preserved in Extra Fine condition, allowing observers to appreciate the fine details of the engraving and the rich texture of the copper metal.
