Dating back to the pre-1933 era of American coinage, this ten-cent piece from 1843 represents a classic period in United States currency. Minted in Philadelphia from 90 percent silver, this dime contains approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Having survived in circulated condition, it carries the honest wear of a coin that passed through many hands during a formative decade in American history. The obverse of the coin showcases a seated figure of Lady Liberty, an iconic design created by Christian Gobrecht.
