0.0000 troy oz 1847 Almost Unc

In 1847, the United States Mint in Philadelphia produced a substantial copper coin that represents a fascinating era in early American pocket change. Known as the Large Cent, this substantial copper piece is significantly larger than the pennies we use today, serving as a tactile connection to the commerce of the mid nineteenth century. The obverse of this coin features a profile of Liberty, her hair styled in a neat braid. This classic representation, designed by Christian Gobrecht, is accompanied by the clearly legible year 1847 stamped below the bust. On the reverse, the coin displays a detailed wreath enclosing the denomination of One Cent. Surrounding this central design is the inscription United States of America, wrapping around the perimeter of the coin. This particular specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the intricate details of the engraving for modern observers to appreciate.
