0.4838 troy oz .900 1847 Extra Fine - 40 (PCGS)

Struck in the mid-nineteenth century, this 1847 ten-dollar gold coin represents a fascinating era of American coinage. Minted at the historic New Orleans facility, indicated by its 'O' mint mark, the coin is composed of 90 percent gold and contains 0.4838 troy ounces of precious metal. Having survived decades of circulation, it is preserved in Extra Fine condition. The obverse features a profile of Liberty, her hair bound by a band inscribed with the word 'LIBERTY' and framed by a ring of thirteen stars along the border. On the reverse, a classic heraldic eagle bears a shield upon its chest, surrounded by the words 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and the face value, 'TEN D.'
