1850 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle AU-55 PCGS (Small Date)

0.4838 troy oz .900 1850 Almost Unc - 55 (PCGS)

In 1850, the Philadelphia Mint produced a run of 291,451 gold eagle coins, each carrying a face value of ten dollars. This particular specimen survives today in an impressive state of preservation, certified in Almost Uncirculated 55 condition. Struck from 0.900 fine gold, the coin contains 0.4838 troy ounces of precious metal, representing a tangible survivor from the mid-nineteenth century. The obverse features the classic profile of Liberty wearing a coronet, with the small-sized date 1850 positioned below the bust. On the reverse, the design showcases a heraldic eagle surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination TEN D. Because it was struck at the main Philadelphia facility, the coin bears no mint mark, leaving the fields around the design clean and open.
