1850 Liberty Seated Dime XF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1850 Extra Fine

This United States ten-cent piece from 1850 offers a window into mid-nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Having circulated through early American commerce, this specimen survives in Extra Fine condition, retaining much of the crisp detail originally engraved by Christian Gobrecht. The obverse features the classic depiction of Liberty seated upon a rock. In her right hand, she supports a shield, while her left hand holds a staff topped with a liberty cap. The year 1850 is clearly inscribed beneath her feet, and the word "LIBERTY" is visible across the shield. On the reverse, the coin displays its denomination, "ONE DIME," encircled by a delicate wreath. The surrounding inscription identifies the issuing nation as the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." This sovereign coin represents a historic era of United States minting, backed by the federal government and preserved for modern appreciation.
