This particular specimen is struck in 90 percent pure gold, containing 0.0484 troy ounces of the precious metal. It bears the recognizable 'O' mint mark, identifying its origin at the historic Louisiana facility. The obverse features the classic Liberty Head profile, surrounded by stars, with the year 1853 anchored at the bottom.
