1858 Liberty Seated Dime Good
The year 1858 saw the production of this ten-cent silver piece, a classic representation of United States coinage from the pre-1933 era. Struck in 90 percent silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this dime contains approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. The coin survives today in Good condition, showing the honest wear of a piece that circulated heavily during a transformative period in American history. On the obverse, the design by Christian Gobrecht presents Lady Liberty seated upon a rock. In her left hand, she supports a staff topped with a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom, while her right hand rests upon a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. The reverse of the coin features a detailed wreath that encircles the face value, which is written out as ONE DIME, surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
